There exist high indices of school dropouts amongst the youths who start primary without any preparations and also an increase crisis in child trafficking. Families affected by the earthquake in 2001 (Santiago De Maria, being one of the most affected area), the hurricane Stan in 2005, and the Llamatepec Volcano are still trying to recover.

Our program will combine health and education initiatives to meet up with the necessities of the community we shall focused on through a life cycle strategy.

PURPOSES OF PROJECT

The project will iteratively design and evaluate a playground where children living in the “Colonia Gualumal” of Santiago De Maria, of aged 1-8 years, can play and create their own games under the supervision of their parents and the corresponding adults responsible for this project. The playground will be a fun world for learning and a place to play with rules not just to play by them.

Research has found that playgrounds are essential to not only physical strength, but mental strength as well. This project will help develop social, emotional and cognitive skills. Children however, need more than the traditional playground. They need playgrounds that challenge their skills and provide opportunities to learn new ones.
If You Build It Well, They Will Play - Safely.

A neighborhood with a playground will be an exciting area where children explore their environment while developing their social skills.

The project will also involve in the setting up an IT Training Centre with vision to educate youths through media and technology, provide them with leadership skills, and job opportunities. We want to give them a global perspective and challenge them to create positive changes in their own community.

OBJECTIVES

- To design and build a playground where children (aged 1-8 years) create and play their own games.
- Evaluate games and game creation of children from different cultures and of different ages.
- Evaluate learning about rules of how children learn to express and manipulate rules, and comparative analyses of how they learn by interacting in the playground, with each other and with adults, and analyses of learning outcomes.

- Our goal is to change these youths views of their roles in society, and change societies vision of their roles by providing youths with workshops to teach them how to make use of technology and media outlets like television, radio, newspapers and computers. They will be able to give the world a new perspective on what they want, and what they envision their roles in society being.

1- Classes will be done based on hard ware and soft ware. Thus youths will be allowed to choose their degree of interest where they wish to professionalize.

2- Parents can register their children with less than half the normal fee which is usually about $65.Thus, the parents may pay about $5-10 per child. Or with the finances of sponsorship, the classes will be free for all.

3- Youths will be attending the classes in one hour shifts and complete one course at a time.

4- Recognized certificates will be granted at the end of the course and the organization will be required to help these youths find employment after their course is completed.

5-Learning will be through facilitated discussion rather than a standard lecture-test format.
